This week in reading we are working on scooping up our words as we read so we do not sound like a robot. As we read, we are also working on paying attention to what the character is doing in the story so we can do a better job of recalling key details in the text.
This week our class averaged 13 minutes in our reading stamina!
We were focused, looking through the book, and staying on task.
Way to go, Cacioppo Crew!
In our writing, we are working on going back and making sure we answered the Who? What? When? Where? Why? in our stories. We learned how to use the caret symbol to add more information to our text. It was amazing to see how much for information we added to our writing when we answered the important questions!
We enjoyed hearing another story that was created at home!
Thanks for sharing.
We learned how to use a new coding app called Lightbot.
We were excited to work together and problem solve in order to get the robot to complete the given challenges.
We met with our 5th grade buddies to work on our DNA.
D- Dreams
N- Needs
A- Abilities
We were able to share what goals we have, what we need to reach our goals, and what talents we have already that can help us reach our goals!
We enjoyed learning more about our 5th grade buddies.
When we were done, we did some buddy reading.
We earned a special bonus time today because we met our goal of 10 awesome dismissals from the lunchroom. WOOHOO! The class was excited about choosing their own adventure for 5 minutes!
We enjoyed hearing a Dr. Seuss book from our Guest Readers.
We practiced our scooping and phrasing during buddy reading!
We worked on retelling our stories from Guided Reading.
We are working on retelling key details using first, next, then, and finally.
The class LOVES Freckle Fun Time!
We move the furniture around in the room and the kids work on a specific math skill on Freckle.
We learned how to use another coding app called Daisy the Dinosaur.
This app requires a little more reading and challenges.
Students worked to complete the different challenges before graduating to free play mode.
